Participate in the Chinese International Import Expo
Monday, July 9, 2018
The Chinese government is hosting the China International Import Expo November 5th to the 10th in Shanghai. This is the first event of its kind where China is creating a forum for companies to sell goods and services directly into China. There will be over 160 countries participating in this event and the organizers expect over 150,000 visitors each day. The website for the event can be found at www.ciie.org.
The Niagara Region has sponsored this initiative of creating a Niagara Region Canada Free Trade Zone Pavillion. This booth will be able to house up to 15 companies and 30 representatives. The backdrop will be scenes of our wonderful region and individual companies will have space to set up and present what they do in the region. Our hope is to show the diversity of business in the area from goods, services and other amenities that our region offers.
CanadaBW has organized the booth and travel plans for the Expo. You can read the flyer outlining the general itinerary and the current cost here. Prices are constantly changing and we can only guarantee this price until July 15th. After that, if there are still spaces, the price may change due to the cost of flights/hotel. We are also working on an additional itinerary for an overnight visit to Suzhou to visit the Free trade port there. This will be of special interest for companies looking to export goods to China.
All reservations are on a first come, first serve basis. To confirm your participation, we will need a $500 deposit and the following information to book your hotel and flights:
Brief Bio of company
An information session will be held on Thursday July 12th at 3pm to answer any questions as well as offer suggestions of work that can be done ahead of the trip to make it more successful. We have already been in contact with the organizers of both the Canadian federal and provincial booths to ensure that we maximize our exposure.
Thank you to the region for the support to get this project done and look forward to a successful trade mission.
Please RSVP for next Thursday’s session by either calling Kevin Jacobi at the number below or by e-mail. If you wish to confirm your place ahead of time, please let Kevin know as we have already begun accepting companies. Due to the limited space and direction from the Chinese organizers on how we can populate our booths, we are giving priority to businesses. If there is any space available after that, we will look at having representation from trade groups, chambers and other service organizations.
