Apply for up to $50 000 to make your business or organization accessible with help from the Government of Canada
Niagara Centre ON – “Today I invite all business and community groups to apply for up to $50,000 per project from the Enabling Accessibility Fund (EAF) to help them become more accessible to all Canadians,” said Mr. Badawey. “With a July 26 deadline to apply for this fund, now is a great time to do an inventory of how your business or organization could be more accessible to all Canadians,” he added. Mr. Badawey’s comments were in response to the Honourable Carla Qualtrough’s, Minister of Sport and Persons with Disabilities, announcement of the 2016 intake of applications to the $15 million EAF fund.
“Canadians with disabilities face challenges every day which prohibit them from participating fully in their community and workplace. That is why, when I opened my new Constituency office in Welland and satellite office in Port Colborne, I ensured that both spaces can accommodate people with disabilities,” stated Mr. Badawey. “The Government of Canada is committed to reducing accessibility barriers for all Canadians by supporting private and public organization and ensuring that everyone has equal access and opportunity through programs such as the EAF,” said Mr. Badawey.
· The EAF Workplace Accessibility Stream gives eligible businesses and other employers across Canada the opportunity to submit funding proposals for projects that improve accessibility and safety for people with disabilities through renovations, retrofits or construction of workplaces. Businesses and community organizations can receive government grant project funding of up to $50,000.
· The EAF Community Accessibility Stream provides funding for projects that help improve accessibility and safety through renovations, retrofits or construction of community facilities and venues so that programs and services can be accessed by people with disabilities.
