Chamber Seeking Nominations for 2017 President’s Awards Gala

Nominations are now open for the 2017 President's Awards Gala! The Chamber is reaching out to the communities of Port Colborne and Wainfleet, requesting nominations for the March 23rd event. This year, the Chamber will be recognizing and celebrating six different businesses and citizens for their outstanding contributions to their community. The six categories are as follows:
Business of the Year- Sponsored by RBC Royal Bank
All businesses in Port Colborne and Wainfleet are eligible for this award. The recipient will be a business that has displayed a history of outstanding business practices and has demonstrated commitment to the community through support of local events.
New Business of the Year- Sponsored by TD Canada Trust
All new businesses in Port Colborne and Wainfleet that have been operational for less than 18 months (as of March 2017) are eligible for this award. The recipient will be a new business that is demonstrating smart business practices and is experiencing success that suggests continued accomplishment and/or foreseeable growth in the future.
Women in Business- Sponsored by Whites’ Insurance Brokers
This award is presented to a business in Port Colborne or Wainfleet that is owned and/or operated by a woman. It recognizes a woman who has taken the positive steps necessary in order to move forward, inspire others, overcome obstacles and achieve business success. Home-based businesses are eligible for nomination.
Citizen of the Year- Sponsored by Jungbunzlauer
This award recognizes those who have contributed in an outstanding way to the social fabric of the Port Colborne and/or Wainfleet communities during 2016.
Youth Citizen of the Year- Sponsored by the City of Port Colborne
This Award is presented to an outstanding youth Citizen between the ages of 14- 18 in the year 2016. This young person represents dedication to community and academics, and is a positive role model to those around them.
Jr. Youth Citizen of the Year- Sponsored by Canadian Tire
This award recognizes outstanding young people who are performing worthwhile community service, contributing to their communities while living with limitations, have performed acts of heroism or are good kids who are making life better for others and doing more than expected of someone their age. Nominee must have been between ages 6-13 in 2016 to be eligible.
With the help of our title sponsor Grant Thornton, The Chamber is striving to make the 2017 President’s Gala bigger and better than ever- and we are aiming for a record breaking number of nominees! Nominations are open to all citizens and businesses within the Port Colborne and Wainfleet Communities, and Nomination forms can be downloaded by selecting the links above. Nominations are due in to our office by March 1 2017.
